  • My helmet is 12 years old

Obviously that's not going to fly at the track, so looks like we're in the market for another one. Reading up on the topic, it seems that there are some new european standards for helmets that are safer for motorcycle riders specifically (ECE and FIM). Looking around a couple track day org sites and I can't find any documentation that states that a helmet has to be XYZ rated-- If I get one of the fancy FIM helmets, does anyone know if a track day org is going to throw a hissy fit about the fact that it isn't SNELL rated?

Nope. Alot of orgs recommend ECE ones over Snell and DOT. But also they do look at the dates of manufacture on helmets also. Most must be under 5yrs old.
Wait a minute. Look at those shifty eyes. That devious half-smile. Those kazoo-kissed lips.

Perfect. It would've sucked to buy a nice helmet and have an org not let me run it.
